Mind are here in Folkestone to make sure anyone with a MENTAL HEALTH problem has somewhere to turn for advice and support. They will help you discover your pathway to better mental health with support via workshops, courses, and activities.

A counselling service is available, should you need one-to-one talking therapy. You can self-refer to South Kent Mind if you’re experiencing or have experienced mental health problems and you live in Folkestone or Dover district.

Working across Kent and the southeast, Porchlight help homeless and vulnerable people get support with their housing, mental health, physical health, wellbeing, education, and employment.

Porchlight is fully committed to safeguarding the welfare of all those it supports and people who have nowhere to go and no-one to turn to. Some are living on the streets; others need their support to prevent or resolve any issues that could put them at risk of homelessness.

In Folkestone, Dover and Hythe the Samaritans provide confidential, non-judgemental support.

The Samaritans believe that it's important to be able to talk about difficult feelings and that being listened to, and accepted without prejudice, helps alleviate feelings of distress and despair that can sometimes be overwhelming without support.

St John Ambulance are a volunteer-led Health and First Aid charity - responding to emergencies, supporting communities, and saving lives.

As well as first aid activities and services, they also run a range of community support programmes which focus on health and social care in the community.

The Folkestone Haven provides MENTAL HEALTH SUPPORT for adults aged 16+ in the Folkestone and Hythe District.

The Folkestone Haven is open during the evenings, weekends and bank holidays, when other support services may be closed.

The service is free and there is no need for an appointment - simply turn up. Whether you're struggling with an enduring mental health condition, bereavement, work stress, worries about Covid-19, or anything else that is impacting your mental health.

How to access the Folkestone Haven

Opening times are: Monday to Friday, 6pm to 11pm and Saturdays, Sundays and Bank Holidays, from 12pm to 11pm.

The Rainbow Centre is committed to supporting people from the Folkestone & Hythe district who find themselves either homeless or at risk of becoming so.

They can help you if you are:

  • Rough sleeping
  • Sofa surfing
  • Placed by Folkestone and Hythe District Council in emergency Bed and Breakfast accommodation
  • At risk of eviction

They work closely with Folkestone and Hythe District Council and Porchlight to tackle homelessness locally.

They can also provide practical support, such as a postal address, showers, washing facilities and an emergency food provision.

Make an appointment to see one of their Homeless Support Workers by appointment, Tue – Friday between 10am – 1pm.

Touchbase Care is a community group, located in Folkestone’s Creative Quarter who take an innovative and holistic approach to supporting adults and young people with physical disabilities, learning difficulties, neurodiversity, and sensory impairment.
